Memorial Scholarship

Dr S Agha Hadi Masih Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Dr Syed Agha Hadi Masih who has been a prominent academician and educationist from Lucknow. He was born in Jhansi where his father Maulvi Syed Yusuf Masih was an English teacher at the Government Inter College, Jhansi. It was due to his participation in national freedom struggle that he had to lose his job and leave Jhansi with the whole family. As a result he came to Lucknow and then after a few months he decided to settle in Shaikhsarai, Old Sitapur. Dr Agha Hadi Masih did his intermediate from Sitapur but came to Lucknow for further studies where he obtained his B.Sc from Lucknow University. From Lucknow he went to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) which was a reputed centre of learning and obtained his MSc (Zoology) 1966. He started his teaching career from Parker Intermediate College, Moradabad, in 1967. Later, he joined Shia Degree College in 1968 as a Lecturer in the Zoology Department he became the Head, Department of Zoology. He did not stop his studies even after being appointed and continued pursuing his Ph.D from Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR), Lucknow in 1988.

During his vast teaching career he felt moved by the plight of poor children who could hardly afford for their educational expenses and were forced to abandon studies. He felt so strongly about it that in 1994, he convinced some of his friends to establish Shia Educational Association (SEA) in order to help the promising and needy children of the society. Leading by example he used to deposit the fees of needy children every month by withdrawing certain funds from his pension.
After his retirement in 1994, Dr Agha Hadi Masih was offered the post of Founder Principal of Dr AHR Shia Degree College, Jaunpur which he accepted. It was his vision and commitment that helped him develop this college into a major seat of educational excellence in the town. Then he came back to Lucknow in 1997 and established Lady Fatima Children Academy in the Kazmain locality where children mostly come from poor background and education in inaccessible. He dreamt of making every child educated by eradicating poverty but his sad demise in Sept 2009 put a brake on his philanthropic projects and resulted in a big loss for those who used to benefit from his initiatives. However, after a hiatus, his worthy sons vowed to continue the educational initiatives of their father. Consequently, in 2012, one of his sons established this scholarship in his memory and it has turned out to be a huge help for bright students who happen to be underprivileged and lack money to support their education.

Padma Bhushan Dr. Syed Kalbe Sadiq Memorial Scholarship

He was a visionary and a religious preacher. He will be always remembered for his magnanimous efforts to remove illiteracy from society.

Syed Mohammad Kazim Naqvi

Syed Mohammad Kazim Naqvi was born on 15/2/1939 in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. After completing education from Lucknow University, he Joined Shia Inter College, Lucknow as Lecturer in 1965.
He was a simple and a very soft spoken person. Every year, he would deposit fees of a few needy and bright students so that they did not miss their studies. He died untimely on 1September , 1991. This scholarship is constituted by his daughters and son in his loving memory.

Maulana S. Feroz Haider Abidi Memorial Scholarship

He was an extra ordinary orator with in depth knowledge of sharia laws and islamic history he was popular for his extra ordinary oratary skills and had unique vision to solve community concerns.

Shrimati Prema Devi Memorial Scholarship

Shrimati Prema Devi Memorial Scholarship Prema Devi was an embodiment of compassion, friendship and kindness. She was born on 17 July 1940 in Hathiyapur village of Dist. Farrukhabad and was married with Mr Raja Ram, son of Mrs. Rampa Devi and Mr Girwar Lal.She was always concerned for the needy people of the society even though she herself was financially deprived. In the childhood of Prema Devi ji, it was like a dream for girls to study despite this she obtain early education through self determination and passion. She had three sons and two daughters, whom she always inspired to study, telling the importance of education, she used to say teach your children even if you stay hungry because property and land get divided but no one can take away education and knowledge from your children . Mrs. Prema Devi taught their children a lot and her one son fought hard and with the blessings of his parents and the constitutional rights granted by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, studied to get a master’s degree from Allahabad University and while realizing the dream of his parents received Ph. D in ancient history. Her son Prof, Narendra Singh is currently a professor in the Department of Ancient History of Vidyant Hindu PG College, Lucknow. Smt. Prema Devi passed away on 04 October 2017. Prof. Dr. Narendra Singh has pledged to give Smt. Prema Devi Memorial Scholarship to the meritorious students in loving memory of his  mother.
Tahir Abbas Memorial Scholarship
Tahir Abbas had been associated with Swantra Bharat, Rashtriya Sahara and Kuber Times dailies in his career spanning over three decades . Through his journalism he used to raise voices of downtrodden.

Abdul Aziz Chowdry memorial Scholarship

Mr Abdul Aziz Chowdry was an eminent and active personality in numerous governmental and non governmental organizations like the AIMES, MEASI, India Islamic Cultural Centre to name a few. He believed in ensuring quality education is provided to all sects of the society and his key focus was to mould young students in various important professions like Chartered Accountancy, Business Administration, Architecture etc.
He was also an advisory member for Doordarshan, Film Censor Board and Telephone Advisory Committee. He served as the secretary for the Parent Teacher Association of Don Bosco Group of Institutions for a period of 12 years. Professionally, a graduate from IIM Ahmedabad, he has been a consultant for companies such as Maan Sarovar Properties, Indian Petrochemical Limited, IEC Technologies and multinational companies based out of the UAE. He was also the Managing Director of Trans Continental Business, a multinational business advisory consultancy firm. Mr. Aziz Chowdry held various political connections and played an active role in the same.”

Syeda Iqtedar Zehra Abidi Memorial Scholarship

Syeda Iqtedar Zehra Abidi alias Parveen (D/O Late Syed Mohammad Askari & Begum Parvarish Fatima) was born in Town area Jalali, District Aligarh.
She born in the family of Late Molana Abulqasim Abidi sb. Khajoor Wala imambada or Imambargah e Farzand Ali Marhoom Of Jalali belongs to her family. Being grand daughter of Maulana Abul Qasim sb a home tutor was appointed to teach her. She was much interested in obtaining education from Aligarh Muslim University but societal barrier were not lenient for her. She got married to Engr. Syed Zuhair Abbas Zaidi (S/O Late Syed Raziul Hasan Zaidi & Dr.Fidya-e Sughra ) in year 1974. She was well known marsiya reciter in jalali.
She had a passion for girl education so she mentor many girls of her neighbourhood for education and she tried her the best to provide quality education to her children. She passed away on 30th May 2015 and leave behind Two Sons & Two Daughters. By the grace of Almighty all children are living a prosperous and happy life. His son Syed Muzaffar Abbas Zaidi alas Aun Zaidi has established a memorial scholarship in loving memory of his mother.

Rizwana Zaidi Memorial Scholarship

The name of Late Mrs Rizwana Zaidi figures prominently among the founder members and main contributors of the Shia Educational Society (SEA). She was a committed philanthropist who used to help people in various ways. She loved to nurture weaker prople among relatives, allocated a part of her pension towards scholarship to deserving students and took initiatives for marrying poor girls of the community.
In recognition of the Mrs Rizwana Zaidi’s services for the society this scholarship is established.
The scholarship money is offered by one of the family members of Mrs Rizwana Zaidi who chose to remain anonymous.

Dr. S. Hasan Abidi Memorial Scholarship

Dr S Hasan Abidi was a joyful and dedicated Professor of Botany at Shia Post Graduate College, Lucknow. He was a popular among students for his simplicity and helping Personality.
This scholarship is established in his memory by his wife.

Wali Mohammad Memorial Scholarship

Born in a quaint town of Parsaura, Bahraich,despite hardships ,he completed his education even if it meant living away from family.He went on to become a state government officer.He was a man of principles and a liberal bent of mind .He always encouraged people to educate their children esp daughters as he believed that only education can help children become self dependent and thus elevate the quality of life.
This scholarship is his family’s first step towards honouring his unflinching support for education.

Mrs Amna Khatoon Memorial Scholarship

Mrs Amna Khatoon( 02.02.1953-03.10.2021) .She was born in Rudauli Shareef a small qasba of Awadh known for its tahzeeb and culture.Her never say die attitude was inspiration to many. Her upbringing in the Salempur house with her aunt left indelible marks of nawabi culture,grace and tehzeeb on her personality.She graduated in Psychology and English in 1973. Mrs Amna was a vivacious woman of strong character and exemplified grit, strength and resilience all her life.She was a vocal supporter of education in society.This is evident in the fact that 25 years after graduating,she again wrote 10th and 12th boards with Urdu for her love of the language and Ghalib.

SYED ABID ALI JAFRI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

His was a wonderful journey. Spread knowledge and brightened the lives of innumerable scholars. A lot many owe their successes to him. I as a progeny owe my gratitude and feel blessed to keep his name and legacy alive. May the hardworking and not so blessed always prosper in Allah’s magnanimous ways. My father taught Physics in Shia College from late sixties till his retirement in 2006. This scholarship in his name is permanent and the SEA will decide on the names of students drawing benefit out of it. May I request all of you to please recite a Surah Fatiah for his Maghfirat.  (Syed Abid Ali Jafri s/o Syed Nawab Ali  alias Gauhar Agha).

Zahra Khatoon Memorial Scholarship

Zahra Khatoon was born in the family of a Hakim. Despite all the social shackles, he got his daughters to study upto Intermediate from Govt Girls Inter College, Varanasi. Zahra Khatoon was very fond of studies. After marriage, she contributed significantly to the education of many girls in her in-laws’ house.
The result of her devotion is that today her all children have got higher education and are working in different departments.

Syed Fazal Mujtaba Memorial Scholarship

He was born into the royal family of nawab of Shamsabad. He was an epitome of simplicity and grace – the qualities which earned him respect from all. He went to Aligarh Muslim University for higher studies and passed out with a Master’s degree (M. Sc.) in Zoology from this prestigious institution. Thereafter, he joined the Department of Zoology, Shia Post Graduate College, Lucknow as Assistant Professor and continued serving this institution till his retirement in 2010. It was here that he taught many generations of students with extreme dedication and left an indelible legacy as a great teacher. During service, he struck a special bond with his colleagues and was very close to Prof Agha Hadi Masih, Dr Iqbal Ali and Dr Ajai Bahadur. Janab Fazal Mujtaba was a quintessence of Lucknowite culture and was known for his refined behaviour. He volunteered his valuable services to SEA as treasurer till his last breath.

Dr. Praveen Kumar Memorial Scholarship 2024
Dr Praveen Kumar was an assistant professor of botany in a Govt aided Degree College of Uttar Pradesh. This memorial scholarship is established by one of the Dr Praveen Kumar students as mark of love and respect for Dr Praveen Kumar. Dr Praveen Kumar had devoted his life for the educational upliftment of the bright and needy students.

Umme Laila Memorial Scholarship 2024

She belonged to Village kalanpur, Tehsil Shahganj, Jaunpur. She had devoted her life to spread teachings of Ahlebait (A.S). Following the teaching of Imam Ali (A.S) one of her son’s has established the memorial scholarship on 13 Rajab.

Syeda Anwar Fatima Memorial Scholarship 2024.

This scholarship has been established by one of her sons in her memory. She has devoted her life for educational upliftment and inculcate moral practices among children to make them a good human.

Mohammad Askari Zaidi (Raja) Memorial Scholarship 2024-25.

He was man of leadership qualities despite many odds he established an ink business at Unnao (U.P) in1960. He was very popular in the community due to his charismatic personality but unfortunately serious health issues caught him at age of 49 years and he breathed last on 12 February 1978.This scholarship is established by one of his daughters in his fond memories.
S Ali Irshad Naqvi Memorial Scholarship

Qasim Hasan Jafri Memorial Scholarship 2024 .

He was born in Akbarpur. Faizabad on April 30, 1950. The upbringing in a small village was not a barrier in his progress. After completing his graduation from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh he joined a private company at USA in 1977. He was very religious and generous man. Unfortunately at age of 44, he was diagnosed cancer and he left for his heavenly abode on February 2, 1995.
Maulana Syed Wazir Hasan (Waiz) Memorial Scholarship 2024.
Maulana sb was a renowned scholar with Sadrul a fazil degree and highly respected khateeb also. He served as Vice Principal at Madrasstul Waizeen Lucknow till 1964. He moved to Calcutta in 1965 and was Imam e Juma wa Jama-at at Basravi Masjid. In 1970 he moved to Mumbai at the request of Khoja Jamaat members and was Imam e Juma wa Jamaat(spiritual head) at Shia Isna a sharie Khoja masjid Bombay till March 1978. He translated Hadees e Kisa in Urdu and with ziarat e warisa and panchgana ziyarat in a booklet form. It is a very popular booklet and present in each house of the community.

Hassan Bandi Memorial Scholarship 2024.

Hasan Bandi Sahiba belonged to a zamindar family of Kalapur, tehsil Shahganj, Jaunpur. She was a Muhibbe Ahlulbayt (a.s.) and spent her entire life for the cause of Azadari. This scholarship has been established by one of his sons in her fond memory.
Asghar Husain Memorial Scholarship .

Despite being employed in a private firm and having limited income, Janab Asghar Husain never compromised on his children’s education. It was his determination and vision that all of his children are well settled in their lives. This scholarship is established by his son in his fond memories.

Qadeera Khatoon Memorial Scholarships 2024

Qadeera Khatoon was born to a reputed family of Jalali, Aligarh. She was a noble soul always tried her best to pass life on the teachings of Quran and Ahlebait (A.S). She breathed last on 26 December 2015 at Chicago. This memorial scholarship is established by one of daughters in her fond memories.
